A Touch of Malice by Scarlett St. Clair

2.0

I'm the type of reader who likes closure. I'll see a series through to get to the finale even if I'm not loving the journey. That's really the only reason I read this book. I wish I had realized it was just a jumping off point for another series and there is no closure at the end -- far from it. In fact, the way it's leading into a new storyline makes me feel like I just read a set of prequels to something that (in theory) should be more interesting. Even so, I'm not going to read the next round of books. The only characters I care to even read about anymore is Hermes and Apollo. By this point, I'm sick to death of Hades & Persephone and even the sex scenes just felt rote to me. At one point, I actually laughed out loud at how ridiculous the scene was ("Do you wish to take me in your mouth?" "Always.") Wow. Okay, sure. I'm not usually one to give bad reviews, but I listened to the last quarter of this book on 2.5x because I was so ready to end it. There are some good characters, but the storyline felt tired, the sex felt overdone and over the top, and I am generally just over it.
