This was kind of a confusing book to read. Not sure I understood the point, unless the whole family was kind of an allegory for the country of Chile? It was definitely a well-written and complex saga, but like... most of the characters kinda sucked and idk if I could tell you the themes. Maybe it's one of those books you need to reread, but I didn't like it enough to do that. I'm sure many people will get a lot out of it, and I'm glad I read it, but it's not my thing. There was a lot of dramatic irony though, which was cool.
