kismsfts 's review for:
Bone Crier's Moon
by Kathryn Purdie
Unfortunately, this book drifted more to the side of disappointing leading to a two star review. The positives, a good concept and storyline and good world building. I liked Bastien and Aliesse's characters , both headstrong driven, smart and good at heart. I love a good 'enemies to lovers' but the problem with this book is I didn't think it was well executed. I felt this way mostly because of Sabine's character. She wasn't that all interesting and had this terrible meekness to her. We're in the age of powerful heroines, who save entire kingdoms and Sabine could barely find the courage to do what she was born to as a Leuress. Even if she had decided she wanted to choose a different life that would have been preferable. She took up to much time in the book and I feel that took away from Aliesse and Bastien who are the real starts of the show. It also became clear early that Aliesse's mother was the enemy, yet Sabine failed to fully challenge her. I don't think much happened in the story overall, clearly intending to pave the way for the sequel. But with Sabine as the lead in the sequel I'm not at all excited for it.
