I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I figured from the title and the description that it was going to be another cliché story about a girl becoming suddenly popular with the help of a makeover and the guy that somehow falls in love with her in the process. And while some of that cliché is there, it's expertly mixed with darker themes transforming it from a forgettable book into something that seems very real. The great thing about The Duff is that everyone can relate. We have all struggled with not feeling pretty enough, or smart enough, or good enough and this book captures those feelings amazingly well. I definitely recommend it.
