The Witch and the Vampire is a light YA fantasy novel. While it touches on several potentially very deep topics, its way of dealing with them is quite superficial. Had the author actually expanded on them, the book would probably more memorable but I still had a good time - for the most part. I was really enjoying my time for the middle ~150 pages and was excited to see the relationship between the two protagonists develop further. Unfortunetly, I grew to feel rather detached from the story and its characters towards the ending and found parts of the finale quite predictable - and the "second finale", the very end, felt really rushed. So no, not a very emotional read, but a book with likeable characters and a forest setting which makes for a cute little autumnal atmosphere. If you're just starting with the fantasy genre and don't need a great world-building that tells you a lot, and if you're a younger teenager, then this will probably be for you.
