The Scribe by Elizabeth Hunter

Wow this book did not disappoint! I had received many recommendations, and I thought that this book was great! I loved the suspense and mystery surrounding Ava. I loved that Ava was independent and really just wanted a simple life. I also enjoyed her meetings in the beginning with Malachi. The book moved fairly quickly, but I think that was a good thing. The mystery could've been dragged out more, but that would've annoyed me. As it was I felt that these progressed at a nice pace, and I enjoyed the fact that everyone was concerned about the mystery that surrounds Ava's birth.

The author did a great job of creating a mythos that seemed believable and real. She also did a great job in explaining it in a way that made it very relevant and didn't make me feel like it just droned on and on. The only thing preventing me from giving this book 5 stars is the ending. I was just so horrified that after so much time and effort that something like that could happen. I'm hoping for good things in the next book.
