Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard

4.0

It's more like 3.5 stars, but I gave 4 full stars to [b:Mr. Perfect|469901|Mr. Perfect|Linda Howard|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327960914s/469901.jpg|487629], and this one wasn't as good. I miss the banter and the humour of other books. Don't get me wrong: the story is sweet, the hero is hot and the romance, steamy.

On the other hand, I'm afraid the suspense element was not what the author had intended, at least in my case. For me, tension built because it was pretty clear who the villain was from early in the story, and I couldn't get into the book and shake the local sheriff silly before pointing him in the right direction.

In any case, I am starting [b:Mackenzie's Mission|420744|Mackenzie's Mission (Mackenzie Family, #2)|Linda Howard|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1174589391s/420744.jpg|409877] right away. After getting to know the no-words-needed relationship between father and son, I expect Joe's story to be a really, really good trip.
