challenging medium-paced

Kind of conflicted about this one. I can see how it could’ve been influential and needed in its time, but it doesn't sit well with me how uncritical it is. The author intersperses some notes and interpretations between the fantasies and while she is quick to judgement and opinion on sexual liberation there is rarely any mention to the class, race, sexual abuse, and bestiality (some of it real as per the testimonies. yikes) issues portrayed in some of the fantasies.
Overall I feel that it's fair that the author wanted to make a statement about not judging women for having sexual experiences or fantasies, but then why butt in with pseudo-psychoanalysis (quite the oxymoron ik) instead of letting the testimonies speak for themselves and let the reader do ALL the judging, if any?
As a casual read it was disappointing and a bit if a slog. Then academically I found no value save for historical perspective and even then it feels like a stretch.
