Trigger warnings: graphic physical, mental, and emotional torture.
This is a really good adaptation that is a good starting point for those who are intimidated by this classic. It's only about 3 hours long and voiced by multiple actors which makes grasping at who is who and what is what rather easy. This is a dramatization and not a narration so there are sound effects and background music that really adds to the dark vibes of the story. This may help those who are still trying to get into audiobooks get a taste of what it's like to just listen to a story with no visuals.

The story can get rather graphic and what I really love is, since I only hear what is going on, it really got my mind racing and imagining things. The screaming and agony of the actors is sometimes all you hear with little narration and you're left to imagine the horror. Andrew Garfield did really well in making me sympathize with and root for Winston Smith. He really sold hope and despair. I was convinced that this was someone real and telling me his story.
It's been 8 years since I last read the book so I can't really point out the differences but the core of the story has been maintained. I feel like the ending has been changed though? I'm not quite sure. I'll definitely get back to the book soon enough.
