Review:
Story: This story talks about parents being hopeful that their children were born with a remarkable gift. Or at least I assumed they were hopeful. Maybe they were fearful because of what it could mean for the child. One of our main characters, Mer, specializes in water. It was advised that she stay hidden so that the Prince never finds out. Everything goes according to plan until she rescues a little boy and her secret becomes evident. I feel like there were parts of this book that were jumped over a bit too much. I wish they would have focused on them a bit more. I'd of loved to see more of her time in the castle with the prince. There were several references, but I'd of actually liked to see them.
Characters: This was told in multiple points of view. I can't remember all of the names. I do wish I'd seen a bit more depth for all of them though. They were all great. I loved the passion and dedication that all of them showed. I also would have loved to see more back stories.
Critiques: A bit too jumpy in places and would have loved to see more back story.
Narration: I really enjoyed the narration. There's nothing that was worth notating, but I would definitely listen to the narrator again.
Final Thoughts: Overall, I really enjoyed this story very much. I think I would have preferred to see this as a series. I think it would have helped. That way things could have been played out a bit more. I really enjoyed this book either way. The cover was also very gorgeous. I would definitely read it again in the future. I highly recommend it to anybody who loves a high fantasy novel.
