Oh so why is this book perfect. 5/5 I deadass have no notes. This is exactly what I want when it comes to a light hearted hockey romance. This one was also quite steamy but felt so natural. Aiden is actually the perfect book boyfriend like he is just so patient with her and knows what he wants. They have such good chemistry and banter. I lowkey see a lot of myself in Summer. She has conflicting feelings about her father/daddy issues which makes her trust hard to earn and she is very witty and loves being mean as a flirting method. Me as fuck! I would so reread this. Even the side characters were genuinely funny and entertaining. I hope that Kian gets a book next. I love her relationship with his friends too. Everyone just really loved them together, even the coach.
From the beginning, Aiden had no shame in hiding his infatuation with her. Ugh I love him. He never undermined her feelings or problems, both his parents died when he was younger and he still never said “at least you have a dad” when she would cry or complain. He just really adores her and her well being

Reread: just a great cheesy classic. Nothing that changes the course of my life but such a light and fun read and love their relationship so that’s why it’s a plain and simple 5 star read for what it is. Would reread again in a year LOL

Spoiler summary:
Summer is a sport psychology major who is assigned the hockey team for her grad school application. She HATES hockey bc her dad was in the nhl and would constantly choose hockey over her. Aiden is the hockey captain that is forced to be the topic of her research after he takes the blame for a house party (that wasn’t actually his fault). After fucking up their first interaction he brings her a funeral wreath trying to convince her to let him be the research. They naturally get closer (more so his doing). He instantly becomes subconsciously obsessed with her and does all the little things. After kissing a boy to make him jealous, he storms to her apartment and their sexual relationship begins. She calls him her fuck buddy, but he lowkey just uses it as an in to secretly hope she’ll like him back. She has many guards up and is scared to lose focus on her paper and tries to shut him out but he always respects her space and is so patient with her. She then finally gives in and they start dating. Then her ex, who is also applying for the grad position and has been “helping her” is secretly fucking their advisor so she breaks into the office to expose them. Aiden finds out about this when Donny threatens her spot and he goes to the Dean and takes the fall for it. This put him on suspension from his hug and last finals game. She gets so mad but he literally doesn’t care as long as she is safe and not jeopardizing her future. Her dad ends up getting him out of it, and he is able to play and win the big game. They then get married and have kids. This was perfect.

Notable moments (brace yourself):

The friends texts are making me laugh
“Dylan Donovan: Thought we all knew about Kilner’s perpetual stick up his ass?
Kian Ishida: Shhh. I swear the man can somehow read these.
Kian Ishida: Coach if you’re reading this, I love you <3”

He makes her put on a helmet for their skate race

“There’s something about her voice that makes me itch to hear it. ”

“I haven’t talked to you all day. I’m thinking this punishment is a bit cruel,” I whisper against her ear.
She shifts to look at me. “Not talking to me is punishment?”
“The worst kind.”

“Maybe you have a headache from your hair being in a death grip.”
“That’s how I like it,” she declares.
I raise my brows, making her roll her eyes. “I like it down.”
She snorts. “Good to know. I’ll throw out all my hair ties because Aiden Crawford likes it when girls wear their hair down.”
Wrapping the bandage around her ankle, I glance at her. “Not girls. You.”

He said he was tired but ends up tricking her into letting him go on a run with her cuz he didn’t want her to run alone so late

“Now that you mention it, I wouldn’t mind a tip.”
“Come here and pull it out yourself.”
I scrunch my face in disgust. “You know what? I take back what I said.”

“As I open the door, the faint smell of peaches hits my nose before I see her.
“Summer?”

“I even Googled serial killer tendencies because I’m sure smelling someone's hair is a fucking weird thing to do. But hers is different. It's soft and smells like sweet peaches.
I don’t even like peaches.”

Heard she was at the library so he went to three different ones around campus until he found her

He kept her hair tie on his wrist and noticed her hair was annoying her so he put it up for her

He brings her to the bar to try to be her wingman but ends up getting to jealous and makes her leave with him:
“He’s already talking to someone else and somehow that annoys me too. Why would another girl interest him when Summer is right here? It’s like being given the sun and deciding a light bulb will do.”

He gets mad when he hears the basketball player she’s flirting with call her “sunshine” cuz that’s what he calls her

Oop basketball boy clocked her: “I had fun, too, and if you ever want to make Crawford jealous again, you know who to call.”

“He stares at me like that is the stupidest thing he’s ever heard. “I’m wherever you are, Summer.”

His parents first dance song is playing in his truck and he turns it up so they could go outside and dance:
“You dance?” I ask when he lifts my hand onto his shoulder.
“No,” he says. “But I want to with you.”

“You might as well get a new phone now.”
Except, I can’t. Summer texts me when she needs me, and not having my phone means not talking to her. ”

He came straight to her dorm after his game, still in his uniform

He purposely turns the power off at his party so that everyone will go to Summer’s carnival instead

She kisses a guy at the carnival to make him jealous so he shows up to her door to show her whose the “better kisser”

“Care to explain why Connor Atwood just told me I’m a nice girl, but nothing can happen between us?”
Suppressing my grin is harder than I expected. “Not really.”
She takes a menacing step closer. “Did you threaten him?”
“Threaten is a strong word.”
Anger flares in her brown eyes. “You told him not to talk to me?”
“No, I told him what would happen if he did.” ”

“Summer’s dancing and laughing her ass off when Tyler Sampson whispers something in her ear. If I see him smile at her one more time, the team's going to be missing a forward.”

She finally asked him to fuck her and four of his roommates heard
