I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A sentimental Victorian tale with young maidens, courtships, class intrigues, and more - where all the characters are dragons. What's not to like? It's a very entertaining read with plenty of occasions to laugh, smile, or cheer. I enjoyed the twists and the turns the plot took. Listening to the audiobook while rushing to and from work and carrying out major chores all week was the perfect and necessary mental break for me. Thank you, Jo Walton.
Oh, ignore the reviewers who say this is like Austen. Jo Walton wrote it after reading Trollope. The clue is that this is a Victorian novel. Queen Victoria was born two years after Jane Austen died and four years after Trollope was born.
