Ever the Brave by Erin Summerill

3.0

I enjoyed Ever the Brave, but I didn’t think it was as good as the first book.

Cohen in particular drove me mad - he did seem to learn from what he was doing though which is better than nothing. But wah jealousy is not sexy, give yourself a slap Britta! 😂 and the whole love triangle thing with the king was a bit meh. Though I did like that Britt mostly wasn’t into it and knew where she stood. Doubts are natural and I think I’d have liked it more if she’d mostly gone along with it because of how annoying Cohen was being 😂

I didn’t really get Phelia’s motives either - or maybe even Jameson’s. Other than trying to kill the king why do the channeller thing as it seemed he stood against it. Why did Phelia join him in the first place? Grr.

The channeller women and Lirra were awesome though! I loved the concept of the guild and getting to see more of their magic in combat.

The storyline overall was nothing special or different, but it’s definitely still enjoyable overall. I just wanted a bit more.
