The Ballad of the Sad Cafe: And Other Stories
by Carson McCullers
i think the initial draw i felt towards this book had much more to do with the circumstances surrounding my introduction to it. once i had finished the beginning novella (for which it is titled), i quickly ran out of steam. this is not to say the stories were bad, as i still enjoyed them to the best of my ability and felt a deep connection to her writing.
i also once again find myself wishing goodreads would allow half star ratings as i would've given it 3.5
