cgtull 's review for:
The Covenant of Water
by Abraham Verghese
sad
slow-paced
Diverse cast of characters:
Yes
dragged quite a bit and i struggled to finish it. the ending was satisfying but there are certainly parts that seemed unnecessary. the entire book is devastating and it was difficult to process each event before further trouble came in the next chapter. interesting commentary on the caste system, colonialism, prejudice. the female characters were well-written and very admirable.
Graphic: Child death, Gore, Racism, Medical content, Grief, Fire/Fire injury, Colonisation
Moderate: Death of parent
Minor: Drug use, Infidelity, Religious bigotry, War
