I wanted to like this book but when I was halfway through and still hadn’t found a single plot point I started to lose my patience. This simply is not my style. It’s entirely stream of consciousness, meandering, and repetitive. Characters make nonsensical decisions. Anything resembling forward motion in the plot takes place entirely in flashback scenes, otherwise the current timeline consists almost entirely of the main character whining and not doing anything. The horror of the scenario quickly loses all tension because there is no struggle, no rage against fate, just living with the daily drudgery of what is happening and not doing anything about it. I love the concept but the way the story was written was so so so bad that I found myself wishing both the main characters would just die already. Only reason I managed to finish the novel is because it is thankfully so short, but it should have been even shorter.
