The Borrowed by Chan Ho-Kei

Inspector Kwan Chun-dok has been Hong Kong’s number one sleuth for over fifty years, and in these six stories that start with the most recent and go backwards through time, we certainly get to know him. He is a master of deduction but also one who employs an unusual approach to crime solving. I decided to listen rather than read, and expecting not to be overly impressed I decided to try just one story. In the end, I took in the whole book. They may not be exceptional, but the stories are strangely addictive.
