I'm glad I read this book. I do not hesitate to call myself a leftist and although I personally fit into some of the patterns laid out here, reading it was nonetheless informative and clarifying and even painful (in a productive way). It shed a bright light on the beliefs and actions of the liberal elite (who encompass more people than the 1%). It provided frameworks for understanding how I've always perceived a lack of self awareness in liberal spaces. I also appreciated that the author did not write from a place of partisanship but rather as a social scientist to explain phenomena that are hard to see from the perspective of elites-as an ivy-league educated elite himself. This is a rigorous, challenging text that makes a compelling case for turning the lens onto the very people that claim to be on the right side of history. Taking it seriously will only help the left in this country produce a convincing argument against the right-leaning elite that have won over a majority of our country.
