ramonamead 's review for:
Engagement and Espionage
by Penny Reid
I was looking forward to this book so much, I probably set myself up to be disappointed. There were parts of it I liked a ton and others that fell short.
The Winston Brothers series are some of my absolute favorite romance novels. It was fun and comforting to be back in their world. The timeline of this takes place after book three, so it was a bit odd to have to go back in time after having finished the series which took us far forward. Knowing what's going to happen in the characters' lives took some of the joy out of this story for me. And it felt rushed in spots.
Reid's writing is sharp and funny as ever. Cletus and Jenn are complicated, realistic characters which makes them easy to love and root for, even when they act like jerks.
Overall this was an enjoyable read and I recommend it for fans of the series. I'll definitely read the next installment of Cletus and Jenn's adventures.
