Dear Mr. Black by Shanora Williams
2.0
"I was never, in all my life, going to forget that man. My incredible first lover. My beautiful Theodore. My loveable Mr. Black.”
I really wanted to rate this one higher but I couldn’t. Basically, it started off so strong but fell a bit flat about 70% into the book.
I love taboo romance and even with ALL the flaws, it was still an okay read. I liked Chloe and Theo together. The chemistry between them was off the charts. The sexy scenes between them were great and they honestly seem to connect and get along well.
However if you didn’t tell me that Theo was an older man, I wouldn’t have known. He didn’t really come off as someone who was in his 40s. Chloe was said to be mature for her age but I didn't get that from her character. Honestly, Theo and Chloe seriously acted the exact same way, childish at times and jumped to conclusions often.
Now, I was so not okay with that ending. I’m not going to say too much about it but it just didn’t give me the satisfaction that I wanted. Was it a realistic ending? Yes, but damn, I wanted so much more.
I did see that this was a duet and honestly, I don’t think I can get my emotions together to read another book about them just to get disappointed again in the end. Just sayin’.
