The Poet by Louisa Reid

5.0

i was taken a back when i saw this book written in all prose but it was super easy to read and understand. once i started reading a couple of pages i got the tone and breezing through the book was a … well breeze.

this book is about Emma, who fell for the hot and charismatic professor that i’m sure we’ve all been there done that….well I have…hah! and with that we are introduced and thrown into her lack luster relationship with a narcissist. all their faults, their turmoils, the way she is treated or forgotten about, hots so close to home.

i’ve bled my highlighter on the pages of this book by beautiful lines that took my breath away.

a beautifully poetic book about female rage, and the pain and abuse that a woman endures until there is that one unforgivable thing that Tom does. you will root. you will cheer. you will shout at Emma. “do more damn you!”

such a great book. will never forget it, and will reread again. i to my permanent book pile it goes.
