Q by Christina Dalcher

So intense from the get-go! I was constantly on edge reading this book, it was terrifyingly mesmerising. Dalcher does a fabulous job at creating such a vivid world that is almost believable. It's insane. Her writing is so captivating, it's difficult to put down. She does a fabulous job of creating characters. I have not hated a character as much as I hated Malcolm. He was pure evil. I found myself sympathetic towards Elena despite her characterisation, the fact that she is aware of how she contributed to the problematic society and her views were once problematic makes it easy to sympathise with her whilst also being mad at her for her actions, more in the past than the present. I was completely blindsided by the ending, I did not see it coming and was hoping for something happier but at the same time it was quite fitting.
