Karma's A Beach by Samantha Chase

4.5

Karma’s a Beach delivers a story that's emotional, heartwarming, and beautifully told. While the lighthearted cover and playful title suggested a fun beachy read, this story packs a bunch of heart and feeling. A touching romance with the lovely blend of heart and humor and really compelling character journeys.

The story begins with Olivia, who’s reluctantly flying out to attend her ex-boyfriend Matt’s funeral. Her travel experience is a mess—until she meets Sebastian, a charming, Superman-lookalike who helps ease the stress of the journey. Their connection is instant and comforting, and even though they part ways after the flight, fate has other plans. Unbeknownst to either of them, their paths cross again almost immediately—Sebastian was not only Matt’s friend, but he’s also part of the tight-knit group gathering to honor him. What unfolds from there is an emotional journey full of complicated feelings, old friendships, and new beginnings.

Ash is endlessly swoony and charming. He’s a little introverted, dreamily grounded, and such a genuinely good guy—exactly what Olivia needs after the emotional rollercoaster she’s been through as of late. Their relationship develops effortlessly, with an ease and natural warmth that makes it feel like they are  truly fated Their chemistry is undeniable from the start, but it’s the emotional intimacy that makes their connection truly compelling. Truly so sweet.

Beyond the romance, this story dives into deeper than the playful cover might lead you to believe. Themes of grief, unresolved tensions among old friends, the challenges and joys of long term friendship, and emotional avoidance all are explored. Olivia and Ash are both dealing with past wounds and personal hesitations, but their growth throughout the story is beautifully done.

The supporting cast adds so much heart and depth too, especially as old friendships are tested, resentments bubble to the surface, and healing begins. Samantha Chase does a fantastic job of showing how people navigate complicated emotions with both vulnerability and resilience. It felt really relatable and familiar in a good way.

Though it's got real moments of levity, Karma’s a Beach isn’t just a breezy vacation romance—it’s an emotionally rich story that explores love and loss and second chances in a really thoughtful way. With a cast of lovable characters and a slow burning but intimate romance, this one was a greaty surprise. From the airport chaos meet cute to heartfelt confessions on the beach, I was hooked. This one definitely tugged at my heartstrings.
