This book is so oddly charming. The story starts as a middle grade book, then progresses through YA and into adult, and the two main characters are in different genres (urban fantasy versus real-world-adjacent science fiction). It feels pretty goofy at times, especially the ending, but it leans into it in a way that really works quite well, inviting you into the fun of it all.
