Verse, Chorus, Monster! by Graham Coxon

emotional funny hopeful informative inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

Enjoyable, a decent venture into the mind of someone who I consider to be a fantastic guitar player and one of my influences when it came to teaching myself.

That said, I can't help but feel Coxon held back a little with this. There's definitely something here for music lovers and guitarists who want a deeper understanding of a musicians creative process. Coxon's explanation of how almost every song from each of his albums came together are descriptive and fascinating, and yet while I was constantly reminded that a lot of these songs are deeply autobiographical, I felt that I never got to know Coxon truly. His image in my mind stayed the same from the first page right till the end.

Still, it's not a bad book at all. There's hope in here, real, genuine hope that makes you feel damn good about yourself. Not everyone's cup of tea but I didn't find it half bad.
