Absolute Blackest Night by Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis
3.0

I'm honestly not sure why this is such a talked about comic. It doesn't really have any huge revelations that change the DC universe and really the story is pretty terrible. Maybe if you read the whole Blackest Night series it would improve but this graphic novel doesn't make me want to pick up anymore.

This is really just a chance to zombify the DC superheroes. Now don't get me wrong that is pretty excellent on it's own and I basically gave this book an extra star because of zombie Batman and Aquaman, but without an actual strong plot to hold it together this basically becomes a fanboy wankfest. And there are already plenty of those.

Sure, I've never been a big Green Lantern fan, but this book has alot of hype surrounding it even 4 years after it was released. And it doesn't meet that hype. This doesn't hold up on its own and was overall a disappointment. (Zombie Aquaman riding a seahorse was pretty excellent though.)
