I loved the movie of this for a few years now, so naturally, I was looking forward to the book. But I was shockingly disappointed. Instead of having a strong and fun relationship with her best friend, the friend is always getting drunk and going to parties and bossing around Lara Jean. And no, it’s not one a plot point of the book. And Peter is such a stereotypical jock it was hard to read a lot of us. And I’m sorry, but one cannot go through a intense personal argument with their boyfriend, fake or real, for a full page and then, while the fight’s still going, “be all oooh you’re so cute when you’re at the beck and call of your ex”. 2.75⭐️
Graphic: Death of parent
Moderate: Toxic friendship
