This was a richly, well layed out novel. Filled with adventure and romance. Isabella is a strong female protagonist who is also a skilled doctor which is rare in 1800 Scotland. I liked that she saved Cinaed without knowing him and risking capture. She builds a relationship with him based on trust and friendship. Although a slow build novel it does pick up and keeps you engaged.
