Good Deeds by Kathryn Moon
4.0

I did enjoy Good Deeds - and I've really liked other books by the author - but something about it just didn't grab me. The sex is early and frequent - "heat" is a trope I love - and the MMCs were interesting and hot. But I think the ending kind of killed it. Most of the book was just romance and sex, and then in the last quarter they decided to put an actual, real conflict in (that had been hinted at, but not strongly enough in my opinion).

The earlier parts, though, were great. Nötchka is an alien with a heat cycle, stuck on a pleasure planet when it strikes. She wants to avoid entanglements with people - doesn't want to accidentally end up mated - so she finds her way to a run-down robot brothel where she pays for their services via doing repairs on the building and inhabitants. They're more than happy to take the trade.

The Steamy Stuff - Spoilers!

SpoilerAs I said, the sex starts off early, before the 10% point, and stays pretty consistent throughout. Nötchka gets... distracted if she goes more than a couple of hours without banging, so there's lots of dirty scenes with lots of sexy humanoid robots. A lot of why-choose books have m/m, which I know some people have strong feelings about (in both directions); this book doesn't have any explicit m/m, but it is implied to happen afterwards.
