Another great volume. This is definitely my kind of story, a historical battle manga set against a religious backdrop and existential artistry. This was a well balance volume that offered up some answers such as the fact the tensen were made by Jofuku and are researching how to turn everyone immortal. Crazy thing about Jofuku is that I have heard of him before! There is a park dedicated to him in Wakayama that I had lunch in. It was a pretty cool park and I’d had no idea that the guy would be showing up in a manga. I love these connections to my experience in Japan. The fight between Gabimaru and Aza Chobe started the volume off and they really went at it until Mei stopped them and sent Chobe away. Turns out Mei is one of the original Tensen which is cool. Lends itself to the balance of tao that makes up the power. It was cute getting to see Sagiri tease Gabimaru in an attempt to get his tao healed back up. I’m really glad that Yui is real. The training battle was fun to watch and the banter between everyone has been a blast. The characters really have a great chance to shine when all hanging out. The end stretch where Chobe and Rien have sex as a way to understand each other was surprisingly informative, definitely understand a lot more about the greater mystery now.
