After speeding through the author’s previous trilogy, merrily tweeting all the reasons i adored them, i opened this only to be entirely underwhelmed.
The sex is still HOT AF. OMG I could read her sex scenes all day every day.
Beyond that, i felt here was a lot of slut shaming throughout the novel a la “at least she isn’t a sex worker!” As well as in the redemption arc of him saving her from *that* life.
I liked their evolution, that they helped each other be more fully themselves. But the ending also disappointed me in how they got around the whole a duke and swindler can’t marry each other point.
Lastly, i am 100% here for these male friendships. More please!
