Evil in Me by Brom
4.0
Simplified summary:
"While helping her eccentric neighbor organize his religious relics, an ancient ring clamps down on her finger―possessing her with the spirit of a blood-thirsty demon."
Opening lines:
Adam glanced up and down the street, saw it was all his now, the shops closed and everyone gone home now - just him and the humming streetlights.
Review:
Any Bob's Burgers fans here? There's an episode where Bob takes Gene to see the rock-and-roll laser show at the planetarium. It's an intense "Rocks-sperience" where an evil robot general takes control of America and starts cracking down on rockers. A group of rebel fighters show up to help but are trapped. One of the rebels gets an idea to roll boulders down the mountain to ram into the robots. Gene puts it perfectly: "He rolls a rock to save rock and roll." That phrase is almost the exact same vibe as this book and it was a ton of fun.
