After keeping the rating as 4.75 for 2+ years, I can finally say I will have to round this off to 5 and make this one of my most favourite books for all time.
Is the book misogynist and did i hate the part where all 3 female leads sleep with male lead atleast once throughout the course of the story? Absolutely yes.
But after all this time, I'll accept it that some parts of this book haunt me in ways that I can hear echos of those sentences in my life.

There is a line in the book, "Only the dead stay 17 forever" and all these years later I still keep thinking about it. I think the reason I was able to look past the misogyny in this book is because it was my first Murakami experience.

For me this became a story about people desperately trying to hold onto anything and everything, as long as they are able to go on for another day (which was portrayed brilliantly in the story) and also about grief. I don't think I'll ever rate a Murakami book this higher in the future, but we can say that for now Norwegian Woods indeed has earned a spot on my favourite books of all time list (just because I can't stop thinking about 1 line from the book)
