This was so much more than the pain and damage done to Zach in his five years of captivity with a paramilitary group where he was tortured. It was also about the pain and damage his best friend David had to endure as a result of those five years and the two years after Zach was rescued, when Zach didn't want to see him.
It was about how these two men worked through all of that - in fit and starts, sometimes going backwards, and with a whole lot of misunderstandings - to find strength and love with each other. It was hard work for both of them, but well worth it for the healing they experience. I couldn't help but hurt for them at the same time I was rooting for them.
