Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan
4.0

Even though it’s a fictional story, I imagine it mimics a lot of sexual assault encounters and the “he said she said” stories that follow. It was enlightening to read the chapters from James POV and the logic that he uses to confirm that “he’s not a bad guy”, because I’ve heard similar arguments be used by real men who are accused of sexual crimes and in the book it sounds so ridiculous that he believes he is innocent, but in real life I have found myself believing the accused.

I bought this book last year on sale because it looked good and then decided to throw it into my rotation when i found out Netflix made it a mini series and I (finally) wanted to be able to read the book BEFORE I watched it on film.

My only critique is that I think the author “set the scene” a little too long sometimes in describing a room or building that the characters were only in for like 2 speaking lines. I realize that may be an unpopular opinion, but I found myself just skimming over paragraphs trying to get to the good stuff.

Also, there were some British terms and cultural references that I had to Google to understand what was going on
