A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce

5.0

When Charlotte's father dies, she and her sister take over running the mill. One mishap after another occurs and she finds herself unable to meet the cost of keeping the mill open and in the family. Then a stranger appears one day and helps her through each crisis, but at what cost?

This was a magnificent retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin story. I was very pleased with it! There was a strong heroine and the supporting characters were well developed. It transitioned from one scene into another very well. There was no part of the book that felt like it was simply filler, which is something I seem to run into a lot with novels and was very glad wasn't included in this book.

Elizabeth Bunce is a talented and imaginative writer, and I hope to read more of her material!
