Oh wow this is a chunky tome. At just under 1000 pages on my phone it took a little while, but at no point did that feel padded.

For the first sci-fi book from Paolini, an established fantasy writer, this reads so differently to their other work. The book is well thought out with enough science crunch to make it believable. The plot takes a few good twists that are worth reading for, and the characters definitely grow on you.

All in all I really loved the book and the ending did get a few years out of me.
