Blackout by Mira Grant
5.0

That was a really great wrap up! I do feel like it got a little rushed there at the end, but the conspiracies and revelations had to stop at some point and I guess feeling a little jolted at the finale was bound to happen. There was a lot going on at any given moment and endings never seemed to last in this series, after all.

I did find the ending to be emotionally satisfying, which is The Most Important thing about the end of a series for me. There was a character death that really disappointed me, but the chaotic story and intensely layered plots and conspiracies found a comfortable place to settle, in my opinion, although I honestly wouldn't have minded another 50-100 pages to really stick the landing. Things wrapped up really quickly.

But man, we regained a specific POV in this book that I REALLY missed from the second one, and I think that made this book really strong. That perspective and storyline was the most interesting in the series to me by far and I really soaked it up.

This series is kinda the quintessential Mira Grant to me. A little chaotic, highly character driven, full of abstract concepts that become solid enough to strangle you, and as many mad scientists as you can possible pack into a story. Also found family and lots of banter in the face of danger. I really enjoyed her madcap adventures and this series was no exception.
