My Life Next Door
by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Loved loved loved this book. I was trying to finish this book in one day on Fourth of July, but ended taking a nap until 3pm. Oops. Anyways, this book is nothing but warm and wholesome, nothing but happiness and gooey feelings. The perfect book for the summer and laying in the pool read, haha which was how I read it! I l I love there was minimal/tolerable drama, cause why read about some dramatic affair when life is that way. Haha. I liked the main character, Sam. She was different from many of the main characters I have read. Sam had her faults but realized her wrongs and made decisions for the better. Next, we have Jase, the love interest and the best boy ever. Ugh everyone needs a Jase who is mature, kind, sweet, and just everything wow. The couple were the perfect pair and I could definitely decipher that there was connection there. Side note: the story about the friend, Nan, seemed to stop abruptly. However, I guess that’s how some friendships are in real life. I didn’t like Nan from the beginning since she ditched Sam for her boyfriend, then complains that Sam is all over Jase when she gets her own boyfriend. Also, how Nan would make unnecessary comments about Jase, our best boy. Nan was a jealous friend and I’m glad Sam did not fret about her, imagine cheating on exams and getting mad at another person because you’re apparently forced to cheat because you’re not as smart as your friend. Hahaha.
I also liked the other characters in the book, everyone was very likable and not one annoyed me. Jase’s siblings were so cute and adorable and not too annoying. Hahah George be funniest/informational kid! George be the best little sibling. Ugh love him.
I’m glad that Tim turned himself around and was the person who was there for Sam and straightened her out.
Anyways, I was looking on Goodreads if there was another book in the series. I stumble upon reviews and stupid of me to read some of them or seeing that this book was categorized as contemporary, like the same category as Fault in Our Stars?! I thought I spoiled the book for myself and someone was going to die. Glad the results were not this and that the incident in the book was not too bad. Made my heart drop a little bit, but glad all is good.
I can’t believe I had this book since 2014 and just started reading it now in 2023! What a major L decision. But I’m glad I chose this book for my Fourth of July read, the perfect book to read on a relaxing day and it evened mentioned this holiday in the book! In which I read about Fourth of July on Fourth of July! Haha! I could have definitely read this in one day, if it wasn’t for the time I started and other obligations!
This book is top notch that it’s going into honorable mentions bookshelf! Yes I will read this again and again and again…
I will not be hearing slander of this book!
Also, Clay and Grace can beat it.
