Oscar Wilde did what he did best, namely write a satire, in this case mocking the mannerism and social rules of the Victorian upper class. However, in doing so, the characters are flat and merely tools to get the point across. There are also some plot holes, or you might call them bits of carelessness as the message of the play is above it all. Overall, an entertaining piece of mockery.
