It’s hard to describe this book. The first 60% is solid, the last 40% was insane, and not good insane. It goes from being a decent, well written spy fiction novel to a poor excuse for science fiction that is nonsensical and completely out of step with the rest of the book. It’s almost like he was writing two books and then couldn’t be bothered finishing them so he combined them instead.

I Am Pilgrim was a masterpiece in the genre; this is just a mess.
