The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner
4.25

Gemma thought she had a pretty great life, until she didn't.  Her husband was cheating on her (this is disclosed at the VERY beginning so I'm not spoiling anything) and when she plans to confront him, he lets her know he has terminal cancer with very little time left to live.  She decides to put her findings aside and let him live out the rest of his life with his lie, which I don't know if I could do but she did.  After he passes, she wants to do anything she can to protect her heart from ever being hurt like that again.

Zach had a promising life ahead of him until his younger brother was diagnosed with something that required a lot of attention. Zach couldn't leave his parents to do it all on their own so he gave up his future in football help out.  That's when he learned that some people want you in their life for what you have rather than who you are.  His girlfriend left him once she realized he wouldn't be going far in football any longer.

Gemma is a huge Chicago Bears fan and buys season tickets.  They were supposed to be for her and her husband but we know that didn't pan out.  Her BFF suggests she join a dating app and take a different guy to every game.  Zach overhears this since they're at his bar and talking about it.  He volunteers as tribute for her first non-date with this idea and he immediately falls for her.  He just has to build her trust, discover her past, and help her understand not everyone is like her deceased spouse.

This book was a recipe for my enjoyment.  He falls first, grand gestures, guarding her heart, he still believes in true love while she thinks it was all a façade.  What's not to love?  A who doesn't enjoy someone dressed up like a hot dog?
