I so badly wanted to like this book, and the characters. This is one of those stories that would have benefited SO much from dual POV— too many of Quinn’s behaviors left alarms going off in my head (so much unasked-for touching, getting her drunk without anyone else around, selective truth-telling, etc.) without enough good stuff to balance it out. Janie is quirky and sweet and honestly kind of relatable, but the rambling thought processes were sometimes frustrating to follow and just the whole format of the book was frustrating and I found myself scanning a lot to get though it. Additionally, most of the secondary and tertiary characters were frustrating, if not infuriating ; Jon and Jen in particular— SO toxic. I know I love most of Penny Reid’s works from the Winston Brothers and Good Folks series, so I’ll probably try the other books in this series, but this one just didn’t do it for me.
