Mother Pucker
by Swati M.H.
“I just might be in love with you, Rowan Parker.”
“Take the mights and justs out, and say it again.”
“I’m so in love with you, Rowan Parker.”
- Single mum
- Hockey player
- Forbidden/workplace: physio x patient
- Age gap (she's 8 years older)
- He falls first
- Dual POV
- Duet narration with Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton
What I loved:
- Shay's character growth. It was wonderful to finally see her realise she'd lost herself after her husband's passing and then find herself again with the help of her friends and Rowan.
- Rowan. The dedication said, "a touch of alpha, a pinch of cinnamon, and a whole dollop of sweet," and this is the perfect description for Rowan. While I didn't quite buy how fast he fell for Shay, he was very much a caretaker and very sweet with her and her son. He understood her need for control while also helping her slowly let go in some areas.
- Two top moments: Rowan buying velcro sneakers to make Kai feel better and sending Shay a certain present 🤭.
However, this is my least fave in the series so far. It just left me wanting a little more. Specifically more interactions between Kai and Rowan, Rowan and Shay, and Rowan with the rest of the house. It didn't have the same forced proximity vibes as the other books, which I think I also missed.
Thank you to the author and Blue Nose Audio for the early audio copy!
