This was so good! I’m happy a fellow ocean-lover recommended this to me.

If you like reading about animals in general or ocean animals in particular, you would love this as the weird world of the fauna of the deep are explored in detail (with pictures!!!), including their crazy senses. It reminded me a bit of Ed Yong‘s book An Immense World in parts.

If you like reading about the fishing or mining industries and how they apply to the ocean (think Outlaw Ocean by Ian Urbina) then you would also like this! There was a lot of info that was quite recent as of 2024 as to the state of the world’s fisheries and deep sea mining projects.

Overall a quick, fascinating read!
