Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney
reflective
slow-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Character
- Strong character development? It's complicated
- Loveable characters? No
- Diverse cast of characters? No
- Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
4.0
Was hovering between a 3.75 and 4 for this one, but 4 just got it for the way that Sally Rooney manages to make mundane, everyday, "seen it all before" stories and scenarios so compelling to read about, even when I don't particularly care for the characters!
How does she do it?
Definitely preferred Normal People.
The main subject matter of this one further conflicts my feelings, but ultimately I was intrigued.
