This book was selected for a book club I'm part of. I definitely wouldn't have read it otherwise, and was debating not reading it even so as I was warned it contained domestic violence themes and I can find these triggering.

But I did and I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it has domestic violence at it's core, it didn't upset me.

It was also 'nice' that it focused on other types of violence against women rather than the 'typical' physical brutality that is often the focus.

I enjoyed the story and although I felt some areas could have benefited from more development, it was an enjoyable read.

What I couldn't understand though was the use of American English. The author is British, the story is set in the UK, it's a British publisher... why not use our language? It made no sense and was something that stopped me engaging more with the book.
