The Celebrants by Steven Rowley
5.0

I've never been one to highlight things in books before but this book made me stop to highlight FOUR things! Each stopped me dead in my tracks.

"Anyone special?" Naomi whipped her head to the side to look at him. "Me. I'm special. And until the right man realized that, they can all be happy with whatever bit of me that they get."

"They had witnessed her when she was young and raw and exposed, in the time before she'd learned how to hide her fragility."

"Marielle, I know you think you are lost, but it's only because you are out ahead. It's someone else's torn to hold the lantern now, so please let us do that for you. Look for our light."

"Her parents might not have voiced their appreciation for her, at least not often enough. But others had, lifelong friends who dripped everything to be with her when she needed them, filling the empty space in her life with music."

I adored the character of Naomi in particular, but they were all fantastic, shining such light into each other's lives. May we all be so lucky to have friends like these and may we all leave nothing left unsaid as we pass through life. Just loved this book.
