3.5*. This book was definitely a slow burn, but it does keep you engaged. However, I found myself a bit disappointed with the last part. Reincarnations, some Mission Impossible type nonsense with a very unlikeable wannabe bodyguard, Max lived through all of that just to get ripped apart on a random page, along with G.I. Joe, Kyle somehow escaped unharmed and his downfall is …. pirated documentary sites.
I liked the descriptions of the cults, the missing persons elements, the creep factor was there too, the ending did just spoil it a little. I’m happy Dan survived though, and sorry about his Star Wars collectibles.
