Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
2.0

I am unsure how I should approach reviewing this book. As a historical document, it's fascinating. It illuminates 17th century British conceptions of indigeneity, Christianity, and what makes for an interesting read. As a classic, it is clear that this was a formative novel in the recent history of Western fiction. I am glad to have read it. As a book I would just pick up for fun (I realize I did just pick this up for fun), the plot is solid but at times monotonous and slow, and the puppeteering portrayals of Indigenous people is difficult to stomach. All this to say, I am ambivalent, and I intend this 2 to reflect that.
